Glade Road Structure Fire - 1980

These photos are from a 1980 fire that occurred at the home of Dr. Nordstrom at 800 Glade Road. The fire occurred in the area of some newly installed solar panels. Fire investigators were on the scene the next day at approximately the same time the fire started the day before when the area of origin started to ignite again. It turns out the solar panels were installed upside down and were focusing the sun’s rays on the home’s roof.

Here are a few 1980ish shots from FFD Station #1. In the kitchen you see Lieutenant Joe Willis, Engineer John Dodge and Engineer Leroy Taylor. In the late seventies there was an influx of a number of folks from Middletown, NY. Pictured here are Steve Guattery, Dave Gardner (FPD), Hank Katz, Ray Mosher and John Darragh. I have also included a photo of me saving the life of Lieutenant Frank Cavaliere after he jumped off the roof of the firehouse.
