12/31/08 - HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
|
| |
12/31/08 - Well, I had quite a scare with the web site. For those of you who get the automatic notifications, you should have gotten one from Monday. While I was updating the site I discovered that the photos that I store in the site’s gallery were gone!! Needless to say, this caused me to start e-mailing tech support with WTF questions. It seems that BHF got moved to a new server and the photo gallery did not come along. All is well at this point and I’m going to finish up the last update of 2008 today, and make what small fixes I need do from the move.

12/29/08 - Well, the scanning project continues. I have added some early Farmington Fire photos. These include a Structure Fire on Glade Road from about 1980; a Vehicle in the Garage Fire at 2344 East 15th Street, also from 1980; some 1980 shots from FFD Station #1; 1981 shots from FFD Station #5; a Training Fire at the new San Juan College Fire Training Tower in 1982 (all under "FARMINGTON PHOTOS (7)"); Structure Fires at 102 West Gladden, Gila Street, and Silver Needles on West Main, all from late 1985; and a Trailer Fire on McKinsey Avenue in early 1986 (all under "FARMINGTON PHOTOS (8)").

12/28/08 - At approximately 15:39 hours, the Flora Vista Fire District was dispatched to a report of a structure fire at the Aztec Church of the Nazarene. Photos are posted in the "PHOTO GALLERY 4" section.

12/19/08 - I have added some photos of a training fire conducted by the Farmington Fire Department back in 1981. These shots are located in the “FARMINGTON PHOTOS (6)” section.

12/14/08 - Thanks to an early visit by Santa, I now have a flatbed scanner that will do prints, slides, and negatives. This upgrade has allowed me to start scanning some of the over 1000 35mm slides from the collection of Helen Partington Buchholz (my grandmother). Grandma Buchholz took a lot of photos, considering the limitations of using film. I still have her camera, and that is what I had used when I first started taking pictures. I have added her photos from Millburn’s Centennial Celebration Parade in 1957 to the “MILLBURN PHOTOS (7)" section. I tried out scanning some negatives from what appears to be a Farmington Fire Department 1982 Recruit Training. I have added these shots to the “FARMINGTON PHOTOS (6)" section.
