Structure Fire - 12/06/10 - Shiprock, NM

On December 6th, 2010 at approximately 1500 hours, San Juan County Fire Districts #12 (Shiprock); #1 (Kirtland); and #4 (LaPlata) were dispatched to a report of a structure fire south of Shiprock, off Highway 491. While no resources were available from Shiprock, Kirtland and LaPlata firefighters responded to the incident. The fire occurred in a residential sub-division on the south side of Shiprock, on Redrock Road.

As District #1 units arrived on scene they reported that they smoke showing from a vacant 1-story single family dwelling. Firefighters had to contend with a partial roof collapse, as well as dead fire hydrants in the area. The fire suppression efforts resulted in the units on-scene bringing the fire under control in approximately 30 minutes.
