Hose Co. No. 3 Museum - Pueblo, CO

The HOSE COMPANY NO. 3 - Fire Museum is located in Pueblo, Colorado. The fire museum is operated by the Pueblo Firefighters Historical Society, which is dedicated to the preservation and presentation of the history of the Pueblo Fire Department and its firefighters. The museum is located in the heart of the historic Mesa Junction area of Pueblo, just 1/2 block from the architecturally stunning Rawlings Public Library, and 1/2 mile from the historic Union Avenue District. A wealth of information and pictures, as well as antique fire engines, hose carts and other memorabilia are on display.

The building is the only remaining firehouse in Pueblo that housed horse-drawn fire equipment and one of two remaining that has the famous brass pole still intact. It was “home” to the valiant men who served with the distinguished Hose Company No. 3. The building was erected in 1881 and the last fire alarm was sounded on March 9, 1979. Hose Company No. 3 was built to serve the City of South Pueblo and was erected by The Masonic Association in 1881. 1891 renamed “Fire Station No.3”

Stories of Fire Station 3 being haunted stem back to the 1930's (or maybe earlier). The building was designed and built by local architect and contractor, J. F. Bishop and completed in 1895. On August 7, 1904, Mr. Bishop was tragically killed in the Eden Train Wreck, one of the worst railroad disasters in American history. The Hose Company No. 3 - Fire Museum was a featured segment on the show "The Haunted Collector" on the SyFy Channel, originally airing on June 15, 2011. The crew came to the museum on a 3 day shoot in early May, doing a paranormal investigation. More information on the museum and its haunting can be found at their website, http://hosecono3.com/. Big thanks to Gary Micheli of the Pueblo Fire Department for taking the time to give me the tour of the facility on July 15th, 2011.
