Second Alarm Fire - 09/17/11 - Newark, NJ


 


 

On September 17th, 2011 at approximately 1659 hours, a Signal 11 (Working Fire) was transmitted for Newark Fire Department’s Box 5442. The fire occurred at the Craig Adhesives & Coatings Company, located at 80 Wheeler Point Road in the 5th Battalion. Initial reports from Battalion Chief 5 were that he had smoke showing from a two story commercial building.

At approximately 1704 hours an extra engine and truck company were requested by order of Deputy 1, with a Second Alarm being transmitted four minutes later. At 1724 hours Deputy 1 reported that the primary search on Divisions 1 and 2 were negative and bulk of fire had been knocked down. At 1737 hours the Hazardous Materials Decon Unit was requested to scene due to unknown materials found inside building. Deputy 1 placed the fire under control at 1829 hours.
