The Essex County, NJ 9/11 Memorial at Eagle Rock Reservation

Scores of people watched the September 11th attacks on New York City from atop Eagle Rock Reservation in West Orange, New Jersey. To commemorate this tragic event and the people who lost their lives, this memorial was dedicated on October 20th, 2002. The Essex County memorial overlooks the New York Skyline. The centerpieces consist of a bronze bald eagle with an eight foot wing span perched on a tree, and a book with the names of those lost from Essex County. On either side are a firefighter's helmet and a police officer's hat. On September 7th, 2011, Essex County officials unveiled a bronze plaque recognizing the bravery of the Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) who responded to the 9/11 attacks during a ceremony at the memorial.
