Farmington Fire – Fire Training Series 1

I was working in my office the other day when I got a call from Retired FFD Firefighter Paul Holcombe who told me that he was starting to pack his worldly possessions for a move to Texas. Many years ago, Paul rescued a few boxes of 35mm slides that were used for training purposes. Back in the day, before PowerPoint and digital cameras, FFD crews got their training through the use of slide carousels and cassette tapes. The majority of these programs were photographed and put together in the early 1980’s by Captain Bill Trotter. When Paul asked if I wanted the slides, my answer was a quick “YES.” Series 1 contains photos from training programs that covered the subjects of Foam, Hose Lays, Ground Ladders, Use of the Zee Extrication Device, and some shots of training that was conducted at the Original Farmington School Building that was located next to the Swinburne Elementary School.
