Pennsylvania National Fire Museum
|
The sights, sounds and history of firefighting come to life at the Pennsylvania National Fire Museum. The museum is housed in the 1899 Victorian firehouse, Reily Hose Company Number 10, located at 1820 North Fourth Street in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The museum features an outstanding collection of artifacts from the hand-drawn equipment of yesterday to the modern tools of today.

The museum includes a large apparatus room with various unique fire engines; a fully restored and operational Gamewell alarm headquarters donated by the city of Johnstown, Pennsylvania; a video presentation area; an 1867 parade carriage, called the "Jennie Cameron," won in a contest by the Hope Steam Engine Co. 2, which raised the most money for the Civil War monument. Hundreds of items are on display ranging from firefighters' tools to fancy parade helmets, belts, uniforms and other interesting items too numerous to mention.
