Structure Fire - 04/01/13 - Edgewater, CO


 


 

On April 1st, 2013 at 22:25 hours, West Metro Dispatchers alerted Wheat Ridge Firefighters (with automatic aid from Fairmount Fire) to a possible structure fire at 2620 Kendall Street in Edgewater, CO. Initial callers reported smoke coming out of an apartment building. First due Engine 73 arrived on scene of the multi-family dwelling with smoke showing and established a water supply. Engine 71 assisted with fire attack and Battalion 71 assumed command. While the Incident Commander made a 360⁰ size-up of the structure, flames and black smoke were seen coming from the Delta Side of the building.

Command requested a 2nd Alarm which brought mutual aid from West Metro Fire. Tower 72 was assigned as ventilation and search and Engine 33 was assigned as the RIC on the Bravo Side. Engine 1 advanced a second line in for fire attack, and checked the attic space. Conditions improved in the fire unit within 20 minutes and the fire was placed under control. Crews worked on scene for an extended time overhauling. No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation.
