Structure Fire - 01/22/10 - Durango, CO

Shortly before noon on January 22nd, 2010 the Durango Fire & Rescue Authority (DFRA) was dispatched to 2484 County Road 222 on a report of a structure fire. DFRA Medic 1 was the first unit to arrive and reported that they had a moderate smoke condition coming from a single family dwelling. Recent snow storms in the area created access issues for the first arriving units. As additional units began to arrive, Deputy Chief Hal Doughty assumed command of the incident.

The fire was reported to have started in the area of a wood burning stove and had extended into the attic/second floor area of the home. Once hand lines had been extended a coordinated fire attack was initiated and the fire was quickly brought under control. Responding DFRA units included Engines 1 and 2, Rescue 2, Tanker 7, and Battalion 1. Automatic aid tankers responded from the Los Pinos and Upper Pine Fire Districts. A video of this incident can be found in the BHF VIDEO section of the website.
