Brush Fire - 04/10/10 - Blanco, NM

On April 10th, 2010 at 1744 hours, San Juan County Fire Department District #5 (Blanco) was dispatched to 18 County Road 4775 for the report of a brush fire with structures being threatened. As Blanco Firefighters started to arrive, conditions required calling for mutual aid to assist in the exposure protection and fire suppression efforts. Incoming units were diverted to County Road 4800 where the fire was moving up a hillside and advancing into an arroyo behind and adjacent to structures located on County Road 4775. Mutual aid was provided by the Bloomfield Fire Department, as well as San Juan County Fire District #9 (Sullivan Road) and District #6 (Lee Acres). While the fire was contained to the weeded areas, a storage container suffered exterior fire damage, as well as some minor extension to the interior. This was the first run for District #5’s new Rosenbauer Timberwolf pumper, which was placed in-service earlier in the day.
