Buddy Shots (1)

Welcome to my “Buddy Shots” section. You never know what you may come across on these pages, but the crux will be some shots that I have taken of friends over the years. You may also find something like this shot. My friend Dan Gerard (who spends way to much time on the computer) has a talent with putting faces where they have never been before. Of course, this may have been the Aurnhammer Brothers in a past life.

I like to call this shot, "One Afternoon in Newark." It was taken in the parking lot at UMDNJ EMS after having lunch (and running a few jobs) with the boys back in the early eighties. (L to R) Mike Lonergan, Bob Hansson, Bob Freeman, Keith McCabe, and Keith Holtermann.

After being on the 15-Year Associate Degree Program, graduation was cause for celebration. (L to R) Me, Stan Allen, Ray Mosher, and Rick Apgar.

This is Richard V. Smith at 107 Truck on Lincoln Avenue in Brooklyn. R.V. was a member of the Farmington, NM Fire Department when I hired on. He had left the FFD for the greener pastures of the FDNY in the early eighties. R.V. retired from the FDNY the Friday before September 11th, 2001. He, like most of his FDNY brothers, returned to work at Ground Zero.

Another shot of R.V. at 103 Truck on Sheffield Avenue in Brooklyn. R.V. had been assigned to the Haz-Mat Unit prior to his retirement. The Haz-Mat and Squad 288 had the single largest loss of firefighters on September 11th of any FDNY firehouse. After performing his duties in the wake of that tragedy, Richard Valentine Smith left the FDNY again. R.V. was unexpectedly taken from us shortly after that. Rest in Peace, Brother. You may be gone, but you will never be forgotten!

This was a shot taken at Ray Mosher's house. Lori threw a surprise 40th birthday party for me, and it seems beer was being served. (L to R) George Duncan, Jay Cadrain, and Ray Mosher.

What would a trip to New York City on St. Paddy’s Day be without a visit to McSorley's Old Ale House! Jay Cadrain made new friends while we were standing in line by being able to open bottles of beer with his pocket knife.

The boys enjoying a fine dining experience in Newark on March 26, 1984. (L to R) Mike Lonergan, Joe Wirtzbacher, Lew Sheats. Go to the “Boys Night Out” Article link to get the full story.
