Structure Fire - 02/28/12 - Bayfield, CO

In the late afternoon of February 28th, 2012 Upper Pine Fire District crews responded to a structure fire at 3469 County Road 245. Additional information from dispatch indicated that smoke was coming out from the eves of the house. Firefighters arrived to find smoke showing from the attic, as well as from the lower floor doors and windows. Upon making entry, crews encountered fire under the floor, in the walls and all the way up to the second floor with heavy dense smoke throughout the home.

Firefighters worked for well over an hour to bring this stubborn fire under control. The construction features of this historic home lent themselves to having fire travel up into the walls, as well as other void spaces within the structure. The initial investigation indicates that a leaking LP gas line may have been involved in the cause of the fire.
